Eligibility and Requirements
Eligibility
K-16 full-time teacher able to commute to the San Francisco Bay Area
You must be a full-time teacher with a contract for the 2024-2025 school year AND be able to commute daily to the San Francisco Bay Area for seven or eight weeks during the summer.
Most of our projects for the Summer Fellowship Program are in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties.
You must be contracted to teach full-time during the following school year to meet program requirements.
Committed to teaching
Participants should have completed at least two years of full-time teaching in any discipline by June of the current school year.
You are committed to continuing to teach for at least the next three years.
Ability to work full-time in a non-teaching position
You should have a legal right and the necessary documents to work in the US in a non-teaching job.
You should be available full-time during standard business hours for the period of the Summer Fellowship.
Requirements
Complete an eight-week Summer Project, assigned by your company, research lab, or nonprofit, working eight hours per day, 40 hours per week during standard business hours. Ignited may approve minor adjustments to the length or dates of the project during the working period. Please note, the schedule and nature of Ignited Fellowships are subject to change due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 and response in the Bay Area.
Design and implement an Education Transfer Plan (ETP) to apply your summer experience to your school or classroom during the academic year.
Attend meetings to support development of the Education Transfer Plan.
Earn a passing score on the ETP rubric to qualify for grant money and be eligible for future Ignited Summer Fellowships.
Complete a survey at the end of the summer and an Impact Report after implementing your ETP.
Don’t solicit or accept employment from the organization sponsoring your Summer Fellowship.
Return to teaching the following school year.
