Track the journey of water from its origin to reuse in this week-long externship designed for middle and high school educators. Through tours, job shadows, and other interactions with local water industry employees, participants will gain insights to the well-paid careers available in this vital industry:
- Visits to Wastewater and Water Treatment Centers: Explore how water is treated and managed at each stage of its journey.
- Water Quality Testing: Learn how water quality is monitored and what it takes to ensure safe, clean water.
- Environmental Protection and Regulation: Understand the regulations that protect water resources and ecosystems.
- Reuse of Water: Learn how communities are reusing water in safe, sustainable ways to ensure water security.
- Geology, Engineering, and Renewable Resources: Explore the science and engineering behind water systems, including strategies for creating sustainable, renewable resources.
- Planning a Field Trip for Your Students: Gain the tools and support needed to organize your own educational field trip to a local water facility, helping your students connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
