- Position: K-12 educators and staff
- Location: In-person, San Francisco- emphasis in the South East District
Explore the hidden science and careers within public utilities, and discover the vital role of water in our city, through a one-week experience designed for K-12 educators across all subject areas in the San Francisco Unified School District. While the program will highlight a different district each day, there will be a special emphasis on the South East district.
Participants will examine the crucial role of water in the city through a variety of interdisciplinary lenses:
- History and archaeology: Understand how San Francisco’s water systems have evolved over time.
- Biology and ecology: Discover the impact of water on local ecosystems and biodiversity.
- Climate change and environmental justice: Investigate the intersection of water, climate, and equity in urban planning.
- Reuse and sustainability: Learn about innovative practices in water conservation and the reuse of materials.
- Urban Planning and Seismology: Explore how water systems are integrated into city infrastructure, particularly in earthquake-prone areas.
Priority Teachers: Priority will be given to teachers in the South East District of San Francisco.
